LYNCHBURG REGION AACA
Meeting Minutes – July 26, 2021
Attendance: 12
President Charles Thaxton called the meeting to order at 6:10 P.M. He led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Ron Blalock gave the treasurers report. Because this is the first meeting for 2021 the treasurers report was a statement of current club funds.
Our Vice President, Mike Cooper, was in attendance with his son Zack. Randy Martin introduced his new wife Sue at the meeting. We all welcomed Sue and are happy for both Sue and Randy.
Several people reported on members who had health issues. Charles’ wife had two strokes earlier this year and is recovering with the help of rehab. She was at the meeting and seemed to be doing quite well even though she needed to use a walker. Irby King’s wife had died, and he had a bad fall. He is now paralyzed and in a wheelchair. Many of our older members are finding it harder to get out to the meetings. Members in attendance were encouraged to reach out to those not at the meeting.
Charles announced that forms were available for a free 1-year membership in AACA for any new members. Also, the AACA is holding a raffle for a 1973 Jeep Commando or $5000, winner’s choice. The club has 20 raffle tickets to sell at $10 each. If you would like to purchase one or more tickets, contact Charles. They will also be available at the next meeting. The proceeds of the raffle go to support the AACA. A drawing will be held at the Hershey meet on Saturday, October 9th.
Charles and Otto attended the ODMA meet this past June at Natural Bridge. Lots of nice cars and a very enjoyable event.
Several members purchased new project vehicles to keep them busy over the many months of Covid restrictions. Otto acquired a 1953 Hudson Hornet. Charles bought the 1928 Packard Roadster of John Hussey from his wife Anne and is working on restoring several items on it. Claude acquired a 2002 T-Bird.
The next meeting is August 30th. Same time and location.
